About the XFP series

The XFP is EN 54-2 and EN 54-4 certified and was designed to give installers an addressable platform that is genuinely as quick to commission as a conventional panel. Key platform features:

  • XFP 1-loop 16-zone — single-loop variant for compact addressable installations
  • XFP 1 or 2-loop 32-zone — expandable variant for larger sites
  • Up to 200 addressable devices per loop (Apollo XP95 / Discovery)
  • Front-panel programming with auto-learn loop function
  • Two monitored sounder circuits with fault detection
  • Volt-free fire and fault relay outputs
  • Optional XFP repeater panels for remote indication and control
  • Network up to 8 XFP panels for distributed sites
  • BS 5839-1 compliant out of the box

XFP repeaters

The XFP 16-zone addressable repeater extends the XFP main panel to remote locations such as building entrances, security desks or fire fighter rendezvous points. The repeater shows full zone status and allows authorised silencing/reset operations. The repeater manual in this section covers wiring, addressing and commissioning workflows.

C-TEC XFP commissioning training

The XFP engineering manuals are well-written but assume existing addressable fire alarm system knowledge. BH Courses run a dedicated C-TEC XFP addressable fire panel training programme covering loop addressing, front-panel programming, repeater integration and BS 5839-1 commissioning workflow. The course is suited to engineers adding the XFP platform to their certified panel list.

For multi-brand training including XFP alongside other addressable platforms, see the Fire Alarm Training Course or the complete fire alarm courses guide.

For C-TEC’s conventional range, see the CFP manuals.

Who should use this manual

This manual is for fire alarm commissioning engineers working on new XFP single-loop installations. It assumes addressable fire alarm system knowledge and BS 5839-1 commissioning competence.

Related C-TEC XFP manuals

For larger 32-zone installations, see the XFP 1 or 2-Loop 32-Zone Engineering Manual. For repeater wiring, see the XFP repeater manual. For day-to-day operation, see the XFP User Manual.

C-TEC XFP commissioning training

BH Courses run a dedicated C-TEC XFP addressable fire panel training programme covering loop addressing, programming, repeater integration and commissioning workflow.

C-TEC XFP 1 or 2-Loop 32-Zone Addressable Engineering Manual

The XFP 1 or 2-Loop 32-Zone Engineering Manual is the commissioning reference for the larger XFP variant supporting up to two addressable loops and 32 zones per panel. This is the larger of the two main XFP platform variants and suits mid-sized commercial and institutional sites.

What the manual covers

  • Single-loop and dual-loop configurations
  • Loop auto-learn for both loops
  • Manual loop addressing for Apollo XP95 and Discovery devices
  • Zone configuration up to 32 zones
  • Cause-and-effect programming with logic gates and time delays
  • Sounder circuit configuration including loop-powered sounders
  • Repeater integration and panel networking
  • Fault diagnostics for loop, sounder, network and power faults
  • Walk test procedures and commissioning sign-off
  • Battery sizing for 24h standby + 30 min alarm

Who should use this manual

This manual is for fire alarm commissioning engineers working on XFP 32-zone installations. It assumes addressable fire alarm system competence.

1-loop or 2-loop XFP?

The 32-zone variant ships ready for single-loop operation and can be field-upgraded to dual-loop with the addition of a second loop driver card. Many sites are commissioned single-loop with the second loop reserved for future expansion.

For smaller 16-zone installations, see the XFP 1-Loop 16-Zone Manual. For repeaters, see the XFP repeater manual. For end-user operation, see the XFP User Manual.

C-TEC XFP training

BH Courses run a structured C-TEC XFP training programme covering both single-loop and dual-loop XFP commissioning workflows.

C-TEC XFP 16-Zone Addressable Repeater Manual

The XFP 16-Zone Repeater Manual covers installation and commissioning of the C-TEC XFP repeater panel — a remote indication and control terminal that mirrors the main XFP panel display at additional locations such as building entrances, security desks or fire fighter rendezvous points.

What the manual covers

  • Repeater cabinet mounting and wiring
  • Network bus connection to the XFP main panel
  • Repeater addressing on the network
  • Display configuration and zone label synchronisation
  • Authorised silence and reset operations from the repeater
  • Power supply and battery requirements
  • Fault monitoring of the repeater itself and the network bus

Who should use this manual

This manual is for fire alarm engineers installing or commissioning XFP repeaters as part of a larger XFP installation. It complements the main XFP engineering manuals for the panel platform.

When to use repeaters

Repeaters are typically required at the building’s main entrance for fire and rescue services, at security desks where 24-hour staff need fire status visibility, and at remote points within large or distributed sites where running back to the main panel is impractical for an operator.

Related C-TEC XFP manuals

For the main panel, see the XFP 16-zone or XFP 32-zone engineering manuals.

C-TEC XFP training

The C-TEC XFP training programme includes repeater integration alongside main panel commissioning.

C-TEC XFP Addressable Fire Panel User Manual

The XFP User Manual is the day-to-day operating reference for an installed C-TEC XFP addressable fire alarm panel. It is written for end users, duty holders and facility managers — not for installers or commissioning engineers.

What the manual covers

  • Panel front-panel layout: LCD, indicators, controls
  • Responding to a fire alarm: silence, reset, evacuate
  • Responding to a fault condition: identifying the source from the LCD
  • Zone and device disablements — safe and unsafe times to isolate
  • Walk test mode for routine weekly testing
  • Reading the event log for incident review
  • Access levels and key switch security

Who should use this manual

This manual is for building duty holders, facility managers and trained end-users operating XFP panels daily. For installation and programming, see the XFP 16-Zone or XFP 32-Zone Engineering Manuals.

BS 5839 weekly testing

Weekly user tests are mandatory under BS 5839-1. For the full duty-holder responsibilities, see the BS 5839 / BAFE SP203-1 compliance track.

C-TEC XFP Quick Start Manual

The XFP Quick Start Manual is the rapid commissioning checklist for engineers who are already familiar with the C-TEC XFP platform. It condenses the full engineering manual into a concise step-by-step workflow for typical installations.

What the manual covers

  • Pre-power-on physical install checklist
  • Loop auto-learn workflow
  • Quick zone configuration
  • Standard cause-and-effect template
  • Sounder circuit configuration
  • Walk test and commissioning sign-off
  • Common fault recovery

Who should use this manual

This manual is for experienced fire alarm engineers who already know the XFP platform and want a fast-track commissioning checklist for repeat installations. Engineers new to XFP should start with the full XFP 16-Zone or XFP 32-Zone Engineering Manuals.

When to use the quick start vs full engineering manual

Use the quick start when the installation is standard and you have commissioned XFP panels before. For non-standard installations, complex cause-and-effect, or first-time XFP commissioning, work from the full engineering manual.
